Who among us could do no better?
Who is so devoted to truth and goodness and love
As never to fall short in his willingness and strength?
The doing may be hard enough,
But for most, the wanting is just as likely the greater lack.
And to make matters harder,
We are ever tempted to soothe ourselves falsely
By overstating how much we really want it.
