That’s When We Were Done

I sat at that table
And looked you in the eye
As I proved to you beyond disputing
That the man had been lying to you.

And I happened to be looking
Still at your face a few seconds later
At the very moment at which
You decided to side with the liar.

And that’s when we were done.

It was not then
And is not now
A question of opinion.

It was about honor.
