We are planted in this Greenhouse
To grow in righteousness,
Yet from the moment we sprout, the others
Start saying that it’s up to us
To decide what it’s all about.
And even among those of us
For whom the intended righteousness
Happens to sound like a good idea, more or less,
Most end up dismissing the original concept of it
And recreating it more to their own liking.
In other words, they handle even religion
How they were taught to handle everything else
That it’s up to them to decide what it’s all about.
And I want you to understand that
This is simply what worldly people do.
No matter how they talk, it’s how they handle it all,
From government to relationships to religion.
It does not occur to them
That it is—and always has been—
Up to God to decide what it’s all about.
