Here’s a whimsical graphic I put together a few years back just to make a point that maybe, just maybe, not everything in the Bible was intended to be taken literally. (This is by no means an argument that nothing in the Bible was intended to be taken literally.)
For those who are interested, I find it very likely that “stars” here refers to angels (and more specifically, to those particular angels who had rebelled against God). With this idea in mind, try searching the term “stars” throughout the Bible, and you’ll find several passages where it seems rather clear that it’s referring to angels. And perhaps you’ll find a few that could reasonably be interpreted either way (literal stars or angels).
It’s interesting to ponder….that maybe some of the passages are telling us a little more than we have always presumed. (And probably some passages are telling us far less than we have always presumed!)
