No matter what kind of person you are,
It’s going to be an ugly fact that
Some of your ancestors did
Some pretty terrible things
During their watch on this Earth.
And to make himself feel better,
Some modern will judge you
For what your ancestors did,
As if he himself were like Melchizedek—
Without father or mother or genealogy,
Having neither beginning of days nor end of life.
And at that point—
If you haven’t decided already—
You can figure out just how much
It means to you to be held in the high esteem
Of low-minded people.
