Faced with the Prospect of an Existing God

The one man,
Faced with the prospect of an existing God,
Cannot help himself
But to cast off
In a voyage of the imagination,
As if to decide by fiat
What this God must be like.

The other man,
Also created,
And with similar faculties,
Opts instead to consult the evidence,
Even giving God himself
A say in the matter.

And the first sees
What the second is doing,
And decides he would
Feel special about himself
If he were to imagine
That he had been doing that, too.
