Am I built special
As if commissioned
For particular works
Not germane to everyone?
Or am I just another mensch
Under the general commission
To be just and righteous and loving
Like everyone else.
Either way, I am pleased to announce
That I am at least wise enough by now
To see that I am not exempt from the latter
Even if the former were also the case
In some particular regard.
But beyond this question,
I do see that I have an obligation
To do whatever my hand finds to do
With all my might.
And given that
I do wonder whether
There is a need
For any special commissioning at all
Since my hand has found to do
What it has found to do.
Only let me be no fool in it
And be ever open
To changing my ways
At the first sign of error
For if I have any commission at all
It seems it would be unlikely
That it should be unto foolishness.
