Like so many other foolish kids,
He wanted to be the teacher before
He knew what he was talking about.
He had the cart before the horse, to be sure.
But to his credit, he did have a horse.
Unlike so many who simply want
To be the one up front teaching,
This kid also wanted to be learning.
And so he kept busy at it, whether he was
Allowed to be the teacher or not.
And as he kept learning, he would realize
More and more the folly of pride.
And eventually, he would get his horse
Before his cart most of the time,
And would be astounded to discover
That very few people have both,
And have them in that order.
