Deliberately the Nicest Sort

There are those who count themselves
Deliberately the nicest sort
And who think it a grave sin
To confront another human about his sins.

I do wonder, though, why they have not
Ever learned from Jesus and his apostles
And prophets that it is among life’s
Greatest kindnesses to tell another the truth
About what he is doing wrong.

15 “If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. 16 But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’17 If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.

Jesus. Matthew 18:15-17. NIV

Let a righteous man strike me—that is a kindness; let him rebuke me—that is oil on my head. My head will not refuse it

David. Psalm 141:5. NIV

With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”

Peter. Acts 2:40

Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently.

Paul. Galatians 6:1

16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Paul. 2 Timothy 3:16-17. NIV

How can it be by anything but sheer rebellion that the churches today do not know this?
