Something Jesus said,
When speaking in print
Through The (imperfect) Preacher,
And going by the name, Wisdom―
It holds a key many have missed―
A test of discernment by which we
May prove ourselves true,
If true we are:
Listen, for I have trustworthy things to say;
Proverbs 8:6-9. NIV.
I open my lips to speak what is right.
My mouth speaks what is true,
for my lips detest wickedness.
All the words of my mouth are just;
none of them is crooked or perverse.
To the discerning all of them are right;
they are upright to those who have found knowledge.
He says not one of his words is wrong,
Though many who claim he is right about that
Do disbelieve him here and there,
And don’t even expect every bit of it
To make sense with all the rest.
Some of them even count themselves wise
In playing the one passage
Against the others from time to time,
As it suits them
As if Jesus never said here that it’s all
Supposed to fit together.
“To the discerning, all of them are right,” he says.
As to me, I must confess that I am not yet
Discerning enough to perceive how
All the scriptures fit together,
But I am thankful that at least
I know it wise to be looking for that.
