How have you learned this attitude—
This smug presumption that you—
As if by definition—
Are right about most everything
And are the rightful watchdog
Over all truth and righteousness
In the name of God himself?
It might not seem so bad
Except that I watch you
Make and ignore so many errors yourself
In your snarling and barking and biting—
And you don’t correct them
When they are exposed.
And that nasty habit right there—
Well, I’m pretty sure
You did not learn that
From Jesus.
