When I am writing to rebuke
Some widely-hated evil
Than when writing to promote
Some widely-neglected good.

It’s with the former that are
Mostly likely to come
Calls of “Jack for President!”—
And with the latter,
Mostly crickets.

The people, for the most part,
Want someone to champion
Their causes.
And while they have cause
To hate certain evils,
They haven’t as much cause
To love certain goods.
