A Societal Gridlock

He fights against the evil that’s in your heart,
But not against the evil that’s in his own.

And this leaves room for you
To do the same with him,
Should you so choose
Trapping each other in
A societal gridlock from which
Very few will ever figure out
How to escape.

No one breaks this cycle,
Except for the one who dares
To sweep his own house clean.

And for him, this society is but
A proving grounds—
His real home yet waiting for him beyond.

And until he is there, he will be frustrated
With the dysfunction of this world—
The rejection of full goodness within,
Even as he fights the good fight
To keep his own heart clean.
