He would eventually figure it out―
All that gaslighting and turning of tables.
He would see that they simply weren’t interested
In improving themselves
Were willing instead to blame and punish
The world for ever having in the first
Place that boyscout notion that
They should.
This is what they do―
Caught red-handed as they are.
Busted.
Exposed.
And scared
To death that
The lie isn’t working
That it won’t blind everybody.
And once he figured it out,
Their power over him was broken.
For good.
