The Real Lincoln by Thomas DiLorenzo

Kay and I recently finished reading The Real Lincoln: A new look at Abraham Lincoln, his agenda, and an unnecessary war by Thomas DiLorenzo.  It was quite an eye-opener.  Having grown up quite a fan of Lincoln, I found the book troubling to say the least.  DiLorenzo’s work, however, is not hard to defend as a great deal of his expose` rests on Lincoln’s own speeches and documents. Rule of Law Restoration

On the American Character

I’ve been working for three or four years on a book that I hope to publish online this coming winter.  In short, while many are in the habit of blaming “Washington” for our political woes, my argument is that our fundamental issue is the low aggregate character of the American citizenry.  That is, we do not, in the aggregate, possess the high character that would be necessary for a people who are the overseers of their own government. On Consumerism

I am concerned with the dupability of people in general and one great example of this is how they behave as consumers.  Based on my modest research to date, I have no reason to trust most mega corporations to provide products (or even services) that are truly safe and good for the consumer.  The Internet is replete with one confirmed story after another of poisons, side effects, malfunctions, adverse effects, product recalls, negligence, and class action lawsuits.  From asbestos, to cigarettes, lead in toys, genetically modified foods, and harmful medical treatments—no field of products or services seems to be immune.
